Florence
World famous as a center of art, Florence is known as the birthplace of modern western culture, home to the famous Medici family. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Ghiberti and others made some of their most significant artistic contributions here. The Uffizi Museum is one of the great European museums. The Ponte Vecchio spans the Arno River and is world-famous for gold jewelry. Florence is home to several street markets, wonderful restaurants and high fashion shopping. It is a 90 minute trip from the village of Montisi.
